Inserting Images

iMindMap 9 allows you to insert Images on to your Mind Map which are one of the key points to Mind Mapping. Images help to customize the look of your Mind Map and are also helpful for triggering memory and help make associations. 

This guide will cover the following topics:

INSERTING IMAGES FROM IMAGE LIBRARY

To Insert an image from the Image Library:

  • Select the branch that you want to insert the image onto.
  • Select the Image icon from the properties panel

  • Type the name of the image you would like to insert into the box and click the magnifying glass icon. This will bring up all images associated with your search.

  • Once you have chosen the image you would like to insert, simply click the image. This will add the image to your branch.
  • There are options within the image library to view ‘Recent’ images that you may have used.

  • You can also save any images from the image library to your favourites. To do this, right click on the image you would like favourite and select ‘Add to favourites’.

  • You will also see options to insert the image manually and to insert the image as a central idea when you right click the image.

INSERTING AN IMAGE FROM FILE

Within the image library, you can also browse for images that are saved to your computer using the ‘browse’ option.

To insert an image from an image file saved on your computer:

  1. Select the Insert menu from the main toolbar
  2. Click on the Image File icon
  3. Browse your computer for the save image file and select Open
  4. The image will now be displayed on your Mind Map

MOVING AN IMAGE

To move an image on your Mind Map:

  1. Select the image by left clicking on it.
  2. Simply drag and drop the image to the position you want.
  3. To rotate the image simply click and hold on the Rotate icon in the bottom right hand corner of the image and move your mouse.

Tip: If you have a branch selected when inserting an image, you will notice the image will be 'connected' to the Branch via a faint blue line. This will ensure that when moving your branches, the image will move with the branch so you do not have to move them around separately.

 

You can connect an image to a branch simply by dragging and dropping the image on to the branch itself. You will notice a small orange branch icon appear when hovering over a branch, releasing the mouse button will then connect the image to the branch.

DELETING AN IMAGE

To delete an image:

  1. Left click on the image
  2. Press Delete on your keyboard, or right click and select Delete.

  2. Enter a Keyword in to 'Search Image Library' box to find an image.

  3. Press Enter to search the library
  4. If an image has been found relating to your keyword they will be displayed in the image library window.
  5. Simply click on an image in order to insert it.
