Experiencing slow start up speeds with iMindMap?

Experiencing slow startup speeds with iMindMap?

Check your anti-virus settings, you may have settings enabled that will slow down the boot time of iMindMap.

If your virus scanner has ‘On-Access’ or ‘Real-time’ scanning then your computer could be wasting valuable time scanning iMindMap's files as it starts up!

‘On-Access’ or ‘Real-time’ scanning sometimes includes the options to scan ‘inside archive files’ which will considerably slow down the boot time of iMindMap on your computer, however you should be able to turn this option off to improve the speed.

In the preferences of your anti-virus software you should be able to check the ‘On-Access’ or ‘real-time’ scanning options (if they are supported by your anti-virus software) and disable this option.

Here are a few examples of how to disable this option in software we have experienced the issue with:

Sophos Endpoint Security and Control version 10.0 - Windows

1. Open Sophos Anti-Virus' Preferences window (by clicking ‘Configure anti-virus and HIPS).

2. Click the "On-access Scanning" option and choose the ‘Scanning’ tab.

3. Check if the on-access scanner is enabled or not (as shown with the check box at the top).

4. In ‘Other scanning options’ if the ‘Scan inside archive files’ checkbox is checked, please try unchecking it, restarting your computer and trying to load iMindMap again.

5. If this does not resolve the long start up times or the ‘Scan inside archive files’ checkbox is not checked, please try disabling on-access scanning by unchecking the ‘Enable’ checkbox at the top, restarting your computer and trying to load iMindMap.

Sophos Anti-Virus Home Edition- Mac

1. Open Sophos Anti-Virus' Preferences window.

2. Switch to the ‘On-access Scanning’ tab.

3. Check if the on-access scanner is enabled or not (as shown with the
green or red light)

4. If the ‘Inside archives and compressed files’ checkbox is checked, please
try unchecking it, restarting your Mac and trying to load iMindMap again.

5. If this does not resolve the long start up times or the ‘Inside archives and compressed files’ checkbox is not checked, please try disabling on-access scanning by clicking the Stop Scanning button, restarting your computer and trying to load iMindMap.

McAfee Anti-virus

Older versions of McAfee Anti-virus may also include the option to scan inside archive files which results in slow startup speeds for iMindMap. If you have this issue with McAfee Anti-virus then switching the option off or updating to the latest version should solve the issue.
