Fast Capture- Basics


Fast Capture View is an exclusive feature of iMindMap 9/10 Ultimate edition. It allows you to quickly add simple ideas, such as keywords, images and the way they connect, all in one place. With self-organising bubbles and an array of formatting options, Fast Capture View revolutionises what is typically the initial step of the creative process.

 

Getting started with Fast Capture:

 

  1. Open iMindMap 9/10
  2. Click on open, then choose the Fast Capture View, the first option
  3. Enter the name of the Fast Capture then click Start to open a new canvas

 

  1. Type anywhere on the canvas and click Enter on the keyboard to create a new bubble
  2. You can also add or remove bubbles by clicking on the “Add” or “Delete” icons on the main toolbar

 

 

Show/ Hide Ancestors:

 

In Fast Capture View you can de-clutter the canvas by hiding bubbles that aren’t directly connected to the current bubble you have selected. This feature is called 'Show/Hide Ancestors':

 

  1. Click on the bubble you want to focus on
  2. Select 'Show/Hide Ancestors in the main toolbar.
  1. The bubbles which are not directly connected to the idea you have selected will be hidden

 

 

  1. To show the Ancestors again click on to “Show/ Hide Ancestors” again

 

 

 

Changing the Toggle Edge

 

In Fast Capture View each bubble is connected by an “Edge” digital string. You can choose to have a fluid, curvy line or a static, straight line:

 

  1. Click on a bubble
  2. Select the “Toggle Edge Icon” on the main toolbar

  1. If the edge was straight it will convert it a curved edge, if it was curved it will convert it to a straight edge.
  2. To revert it, click the “Toggle Edge Shape” button again.

 

Changing the Canvas Background

 

Fast Capture has a selection of simple, calm backgrounds that you can choose from:

 

  1. Open Fast Capture view
  2. Select the 'Canvas' icon in the main toolbar.

 

 

  1. Click on a canvas option from the drop down menu to apply it to your canvas
