Outline Panel Overview


The Outline Panel works to edit, locate and improve your work in the in Fast Capture, Brainstorm, Time Map and Mind Map views. Outline Panel automatically updates in line with any changes you have made on your canvas, allowing you to manage and view the development of your ideas in one place.

 

Outline Panel search

 

The Outline Panel can be used to search for keywords within your document, regardless of which feature you are using:

 

  1. Open or continue to work in either Fast Capture, Brainstorm, Time map view or Mind Map View in iMindMap 10
  2. Click on the 'Outline' icon on the side panel on the far right.
  3. Type the keyword you would like to search for in the search bar at the top of this panel, then click on the magnifying glass

4.Once you’ve searched for your keyword, the canvas shift to show where the keyword is located and will highlight it on the Outline Panel.

 

To change the order of ideas from within the Outline Panel:

You can use the Outline panel to change the order of your main ideas as they appear on the canvas You can also change the order of the shoot-off ideas under the main ideas:

  1. Click the “Outline” icon in the side panel on the right-hand side of the screen.
  2. Click on an idea within the Outline Panel
  3. Drag the idea to where you would like it to be within the Outline Panel release the mouse to drop it in its new place
  4. The modifications made in the Outline Panel will be reflected on the canvas.

 

Editing ideas in the Outline Panel:

 

Although you cannot move shoot-off ideas to different main ideas you can edit and update them in the Outline Panel instead.:

 

  1. Click the “Outline” icon in the side panel on the right-hand side of the screen.
  2. Double click on the idea you would like to change
  3. Type in new text or make any changes to the idea's content, once you have clicked away or pressed 'Enter' on the keyboard the changes will have been made

 

You can use the Outline panel to add or delete Branches:

 

  1. Click the “Outline” icon in the side panel on the right-hand side of the screen.
  2. Right click on the chosen idea
  3. Choose from the pop-up menu whether you want to remove or add Branches

 

Any changes you make on the Outline Panel will be updated on the canvas.

A feature in Fast Capture, Brainstorm and Mind Map views, the Outline Panel works to edit, locate and improve your work. A key part of the creative process, the Outline Panel automatically updates in line with any changes you have made on your canvas.

 To search for a particular idea:

  • Open or continue to work in either Fast Capture, Brainstorm or Mind Map View in iMindMap 10
  • Click on the 'Outline' icon on the far right of the screen.

  • Type the idea you would like to search for in the search bar at the top of this panel, then click on the magnifying glass

 iMind Map will then move to the idea you are looking for on the canvas as well as highlight it in the Outline Panel.

Using the Outline Panel, you can modify the order of your ideas as they appear on the canvas.

 

To change the order of ideas from within the Outline Panel:

  • Open or continue to work in Fast Capture, Brainstorm or Mind Map View
  • Click on the 'Outline' icon in the far right of the screen
  • Click on an idea within the Outline Panel

Editing in the Outline Panel

Similar to the drag and drop feature above, edits made to the text of an idea in the Outline Panel will also appear on the canvas

To edit ideas in the Outline Panel:

Open or continue to work in either Fast Capture, Brainstorm or Mind Map View in iMindMap 10
Click on the 'Outline' icon on the far right of the screen
