Find, Select, Delete - Editing Section


The Editing section in the Home tab provides the Select Area and Delete options.

Find:

 

The Find feature allows you to search for keywords on your Mind Map and can also be used to locate text that may be included on a Branch Note.

 

To Find a keyword on your Mind Map:

 

  1. Select Find from the Home tab

2. Enter a keyword into the Find window

3. Select Next to begin searching, if you have multiple instances of the keyword you can keep pressing Next or Previous to go back and forth between them

 

Select Area

 

The Select Area tool allows to either select every branch, select the descendants ( the child branches of a parent branch) or to invert the selection by selecting everything expect the branch selected.  

 

To Select an Area:

 

 

  1. Select the Area button from the Home tab on the main toolbar.
  2. Drag and drop the mouse over the area of branches you wish to select.     

Delete

 

The Delete button allows you to delete any item that is currently selected in your Mind Map workspace:

 

To delete an item:

 

  1. Select an item or items you wish to delete
  2. Simply press the red Delete button in the Home tab.
  3. If you delete something by accident, select the Undo or Redo buttons in the top left hand corner of the iMindMap window.

 

Tip: You can also delete an item by pressing the Delete key or Backspace Key on your keyboard

 

Deleting Parent Branches only.

 

If you want to delete a main parent branch, but want to keep the child branches you can this by following these instructions:

  •  Right click on the parent branch you wish to delete
  • On the pop-up menu click Delete (Keep Children)

The parent branch will now be deleted, and the first child branches will now be the parent branches attached to the central idea.

FIND

  • Select Find from the Edit menu

  • Enter a Keyword

SELECT AREA

The Select Area tool allows you to drag and drop a selection around a group of branches or items in order to select them all in one go.

To Select an Area:

  • Hold down the Cmd key.
  • Drag and drop the mouse cursor over the area of branches you wish to select.

You can also find the Select Area option from the Edit > Select menu on the top toolbar.


DELETE

The delete button allows you to Delete any item that is currently selected in your Mind Map workspace:

To delete an item:

  • Select an item or items you wish to delete
  • Simply press the Delete key.

 

Tip: If you accidentally delete an item you can always use the Undo or Redo options from the Edit menu or use the Cmd + Z short cut key.
